Abstract What is the impact of uncommon but notable violent acts on conflict dynamics? We analyze murder a Palestinian child broader dynamics Israeli-Palestinian violence in Jerusalem. By using novel micro-level event data and utilizing Discrete Fourier Transform Bayesian Poisson Change Point Analysis, we compare to that other lethal more typical events. demonstrate had large durable average number daily riots Jerusalem, whereas events caused smaller, short-term effects. scholars should devote attention analysis atypical indicate set tools for conducting such analyses.
